Hey Barb,
It’s been a little while so I thought I’d give you an update on Gus. You probably remember, but if not, he is from Elsa and Jackson in 2017.
You can definitely tell he is Jackson’s puppy. He looks almost identical to him at this point. He’s tipping the scales at about 75 lbs and he has two great passions in life: retrieving and swimming. I often make the quip that he is part fish. He’s extremely well-tempered and with the exception of our cat, he is everyone’s best friend.
One characteristic we find fascinating about him is that he seldom barks. it could be a doorbell ringing or a dog walking by outside and he doesn’t make a sound. I am unsure if that is a characteristic of the breed, or if that is a trait you breed for, or if we just got lucky, but it’s definitely enjoyable and quite beneficial when there are sleeping babies around.
It’s hard to believe he’s already almost a year-and-half old. Those early puppy months were challenging, but they go by fast. Suddenly, he is the adult dog that has to deal with the annoying puppies nipping at HIS ears. I guess it’s karma in a way.
Thank you for the time and effort you put into these puppies and your breeding program. It really does produce great dogs and my wife and I couldn’t be happier with Gus.
I’ve included a picture of the first day we brought him home as well as a few current pictures. I also included a link to a youtube video of Gus swimming at the Lake around the 4th.
Thanks,
Caleb
