MIA

Hi Barb,

I wanted to send you a picture of Mia, from Captain and Jewel’s 8/26/06 litter. It is her 2nd birthday! I wanted to let you know that we are really enjoying her. She has a funny personality—she follows me around and loves to be next to us if even just to sit. But she refuses to kiss us unless we have food and then it’s just a “bump” with her nose. Funny. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone comments on how beautiful she is!

DAKOTA

Hey Barb-

I just thought I would share with you some new photos of Dakota (Ivy’s litter, pink polka dot puppy).

I can’t believe she just turned 16 wks old this week. A couple of weeks ago we finished the last series of our puppy shots! Now we won’t go back to the vet until she will get spayed in a couple of months. I think everyone is a little disappointed at the vet clinic because they enjoyed seeing her every 3 wks! :) She was definently the center of attention when she was there!

She is competely potty trained, and whines at the door whenever she needs to go outside to go potty. She is so smart! She knows lots of tricks, including; sit, stay, lay down, speak, rollover and high-five!

She begins to look more and more like her daddy Captain! He should be a proud father! She has the ‘blocky’ head like him and is very similar in color.

She is just starting to lose her puppy teeth; I saw she has lost a couple. She doesn’t chew on anything but her toys, which was really suprising to me, especially during the teething stage.

Hope all is well with you and your family and I plan to be at the state fair next weekend and I hope to see you there!

P.S. This photo I think really shows her personality!

A GRANDPA’S JOB

We just learned recently that two of our daughters, Christie and Kelly, are expecting their second babies in March! As I watch Russ with our two grandson’s, I realize what an import job it is to be a grandparent. The boys can do no wrong in our eyes, and are like a sponge soaking in life. These photos are Samuel learning how to take the toy from Drake’s mouth. Drake is our future stud dog.

Hi Barb,

Hope all is well!

I thought you would probably get a chuckle out of this. I would imagine you have heard of this before. I took Bear to the dog park in Plymouth last Saturday with my friend Lisa. We got such a kick out of watching Bear. He would much rather check out the people than the dogs. He went from person to person hoping to get attention. His approach is quite interesting. He walks right up to them and then sits on their feet and leans into them a little. It certainly gets their attention and it is a little difficult for them to get away because of where he is sitting! His people oriented behavior was very noticeable. It was so different than the other dogs! The other dogs were mainly checking out dogs. Bear checked out EVERY person along with a few dogs (usually because the dogs approached him). It was fun to watch Bear. It was also fun to watch the reactions of the people. Lisa suggested it is a dog park for regular dogs but it is a “people park” for Bear.

I think all the work you and your family put into each pup definitely shows. Bear’s behavior is noticeably different than the other dogs. He also gets LOTS of compliments on his good looks! He is also very smart and wants very much to please. He is a GREAT pup at 2 1/2 years old!

Keep up the good work!

BACK FROM COLORADO

Russ and Daniel are finally home from their Elk hunting trip to Colorado. They were gone for 10 days, which seemed like eternity to me. They had a wonderful time, but did not come home with any Elk meat. On the last day they decided to put on war paint, as you can see in this photo. While they were gone I felt like I was trying to live without my right arm. I could do it, but I hated it. I can’t imagine living without Russ. He is my true soul mate. We have been married for almost 30 years. It has not always been easy, and we have made some mistakes, but I have never felt closer to anyone than I do to him. He is the one I want to share my deepest secrets with. Though we have lived through some tragedies, there are far more triumphs. We have learned to be 100% honest 100% of the time. Transparent with one another. I think all of us long for a peace in our heart. A place where we are content, not longing or wanting for anything. I am at that place. I am so thankful for Russ, and the man he has become. When we got married, we were both very young, and had a lot of selfishness and immaturity. It amazes me to look back and see all that we have gone through, and how God truly has had His hand on our lives. We feel so fortunate to have been able to raise our six children, to the best of our ability, in a loving home. Now we have a business where we can bless others with a sweet Golden Retriever. Sometimes when I am laying down in the midst of 10 or 12 puppies, and they are all so happy and loving, I think I am the luckiest person on earth. I have everything I ever dreamed of. A husband who completes me, makes me a better person…loves me through the good and bad, six wonderful children, two perfect sons-in-law, two healthy, beautiful grandsons, and a farm that still makes my heart skip a beat as I drive up the drive-way, knowing this is where I live. It is the perfect place to raise a family and the sweetest dogs on earth. Today, I feel like it couldn’t get any better. It is truly a good life.
