Hi Barb, Happy New Year! We thought we would send an update on Toby – he is 10 months old now, a pup from the Jasmine/Griffin litter from March 2011. We can’t say enough about how much joy Toby has brought into our lives and our home. He is so sweet and mellow, but also playful and always up for a good walk. We have been in puppy and obedience classes with Toby and he does such a great job! We would like to train Toby in pet therapy so he can volunteer with us at nursing homes or hospitals – we think he has a wonderful demeanor for the job! I’m sending some pictures of Toby- isn’t he a handsome pup? Thank you again for our sweet dog! Alyssa & Mike

Hi Barb,
While walking Greta (Captain/Maddie Nov 2009) down a quiet road in Northern Wisconsin, a red sports car pulled over. The young woman asked, “May I pet your dog? Is she a Rolling Oaks Golden?” I said, “Yes, but how did you know that?” The woman replied, “She has the look.” I asked, “Do you have a Rolling Oaks dog?” She said, “No but I try to read Barb’s blog every week and my dream is to own a Rolling Oaks dog.” My dream has already come true, Greta is a fun dog that loves people and catching Frisbees. -Karen

Lambeau & Packer

Hi Barb: Lambeau (6 months) Packer (almost 6 years) – Just wanted to send you an updated picture of Packer and Lambeau. They are best friends!!! Lambeau is going to go get spayed later today. Poor girl. She is doing great. After the holidays in January we plan on sending her to your week long training class. She already is great but can use extra work. We don’t have to put her in the kennel at night or when we leave the house for short amount of time periods. She is a wonderful addition and is great with Paige. Have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’ll be in touch soon to schedule a week to have her come out. thanks, Jenny

Crosby is a hero

Hi Barb, We wanted to check-in and let you know that Crosby is doing great, still the most wonderful boy ever! He happily celebrated his 4th birthday this past Sunday. Thankfully our oldest was home from school for the weekend so the gang was all present to spoil Crosby with too many gifts (new toys) and treats (a fresh frozen venison leg). He most definitely knew that there was something special about the day and he relished in all of the attention. His personality has just continued to deepen and we are seeing a little mellowing as he is now mature. His connection with each of us is incredible and we can not imagine life before or without him!

In fact, you need to know that Crosby is a hero – no exaggeration. He literally saved all of our lives a few weeks ago, and prevented us from losing everything. It was a typical weekend day with lots of activities and chaos around. I had just cleaned up the kitchen after lunch and was heading out to run errands when Crosby came running towards me barking violently. At first I thought he was rudely asking to go in the car with me, but then I saw that his ears were back and his tail tightly tucked between his legs. He suddenly ran towards the kitchen barking, then stopped abruptly, turned and ran again towards me. I thought maybe there was a mouse in the house or something that was scaring him so I followed him back to the kitchen where I realized I could smell smoke. Long story short, our new dishwasher was on fire internally and things were rapidly getting out of control. Ultimately, there was a 911 call and a lot of action by the fire department before things were okay, and through it all, Crosby was adamant that he be with me and making sure everything was safe. Honestly, if he had not alerted me, we would have lost not only our new kitchen and whole house, but also Crosby and one son who was to be at home alone studying. Instead, we just had a lot of clean-up and many prayers of gratitude. Afterwards, his attitude was quite priceless – he KNEW he’d done something important and he pranced around for a couple days like he was the king of the house Obviously, we adore him beyond words. Here’s some recent pics of our beautiful boy – Enjoy!!

Hi Barb and family! Maiya’s turning 2 tomorrow–how time flies! To celebrate, we’ll decorate a plate of canned salmon with lots of sprinkles, light a birthday candle and sing. Salmon is her favorite treat! Happy Birthday to all her Captain/Ruby Sept. 30, 2009 litter mates! Here are a couple of our favorite photos that demonstrate her passion for her beloved ball (and willingness to share!) Thanks for raising wonderful Golden’s–Maiya is pure joy! Nancy & family

Barb and family, Just a little note on Maddie….she was just at Purina Farms in St. Louis, MO this week-end for an obedience/Rally Trial. As you can see from the photo she was one of the most relaxed laid back dogs there……everyone said she looked like the CEO of Purina Farms. What you see from the picture is exactly what you get…..Miss Mellow….sweet temper….loves everyone…..enjoys just being with people and other dogs. Thank you so much for giving her such a wonderful start to her life…..I hope your family is doing well and I love all of the updates on your website.

Hi Barb, Attached please find a photo of my best friend of 13 years, “Annie’s Amazing Grace” aka Miss Gracie. I’ve enjoyed reading all the great stories and updates from the fortunate families who have welcomed home one of your marvelous goldens. We have been loving our Gracie girl for more than 13 years now (she is a Trea/Anne puppy born in March 1998)! Thank you so much for all the wonderful work you do and one of the best ever additions to our family. She moves a little slower now but is still a spunky old lady when the mood strikes. It’s been a blessing to grow up with her, through middle and high school, college, and now as I finish medical school – though your webpage makes me wish I’d studied veterinary medicine Thanks again and all the best to you and yours.
