Jewel’s litter went to Lincoln Apts. All the people gather in the foyer and wait for the puppies. When I came in today with the ten puppies they asked me how I was, and being honest, I replied “tired”! Even though it is so much work to bring the puppies out and about, it is worth it all to see the expressions on people’s faces when they see a whole litter of puppies together. They are always mesmerized by their beauty and energy. It is so fun to bring life into a room. It is nights like this when I look out over our little lake, and reflect on the week, knowing I still have a ton of work ahead of me with Emmy’s litter, but knowing I am sending out an awesome litter to their new homes on Saturday.

On Saturday, April 3 Zoey’s puppies went to their new homes! It has been extremely busy here with three litters. On Easter Sunday we had our kids home and friends over, sat out on a blanket and held Jewel and Emmy’s puppies all after-noon. This week we start socializing Jewel’s puppies and have gone to day care, Amy’s class and Pro-works. A male puppy from Jewel’s litter got a scratch or cut on his eye, and needed two little stitches. He is now wearing the cone of shame (from the movie “UP”)
He will recover completely. We have a male puppy available in this litter. They have a very sweet, calm temperament.
Zoey’s puppies meet another dog

Yesterday Christie came over with Samuel and Elaina. Elaina will turn one on March 22, and Samuel will turn 4! It was so fun to sit outside with the puppies on such a gorgeous day. When I watch how each of my grand-children interact with the puppies, I think I am the luckiest person on earth! I love kids and I love dogs….the two together doesn’t get any better! Last year at this time our son David had just gotten married, so we had a new daughter. Their wedding was so amazing. It was such a powerful moment when they said their vows. I felt so proud of the man he has become, and the choices they have made. Two weeks later Nate and Kelly gave birth to our first grand-daughter, Avery Evelyn! What a miracle. Perfect eyes, heart, fingers! Then four days later Sean and Christie had Elaina Evelyn. Well, I am the happiest grandma in the world!! Both girls are named after my mom, one of the most giving and loving people I have ever known. To see her legacy of love live on in my children, and now grandchildren is so amazing. This week the work really steps up, as the mothers take less care, and we take on more….but in all the business, I love taking time to drink in the moment, and watch my grandson run around screaming in delight as the puppies chase him. Life is grand.
Friends of ours stopped out on Saturday and of course had to hold puppies.
