We thought we would send an update on Toby – he is 10 months old now, a pup from the Jasmine/Griffin litter from March 2011. We can’t say enough about how much joy Toby has brought into our lives and our home. He is so sweet and mellow, but also playful and always up for a good walk. We have been in puppy and obedience classes with Toby and he does such a great job! We would like to train Toby in pet therapy so he can volunteer with us at nursing homes or hospitals – we think he has a wonderful demeanor for the job! I’m sending some pictures of Toby- isn’t he a handsome pup? Thank you again for our sweet dog! Alyssa & Mike

Barb, Friday was a big day for Blaze! (Jasmine/Griffin) He came to my school on the last day of reading class and was perfect! My students had two rules to follow at first: no touch, no talk. Blaze went up and sniffed each one of them individually. Then he took lots of petting without any mouthing. I broke treats apart and each student was able to do a trick with him. Blaze sits on command at any time, lays down, and rolls over. What a sweetie!

Blaze also had a vet check on Friday. He weighs 16 pounds and had his next set of shots. The vet said he’s a nice dog! He is also walking very well on a leash. We walk a half a block 3-4 times a day and he loves it! He strides a long next to me without pulling or wanting to stop and sniff. I am soooo excited for some training classes with him! He’s definitely ready to learn more!
He loves to make snow angels. I’m so happy I put the time and energy into obedience class because he is such a well behaved dog (aside from the little bit of jumping he does like to do on people when we get visitors, but we continue to work on that). I know sometime we will want another from Rolling Oaks and if it were up to the kids, it would be right now! Take care and continue the exceptional work you do!!

Easter week was extra special at Rolling Oaks. Jasmines 11 puppies went on a visit every day and finished the week by going to church and being held by over 100 children! It was a busy day Easter morning getting Amy to church on time to participate in the drum line. I am always proud of my kids when they are participating in something they are good at and have a passion for. Amy loves playing the drums and has a snare drum in her room that she plays along to every song! She has never played at church until this Sunday. It is hard to describe the emotions we felt as she marched in. I thought about all we have been through, how frail and weak she was battling leukemia and how many times we were told what Amy would and would not do because of Down syndrome. No matter what you are up against in your life, don’t give up! Keep your eyes on things above. God is in control. Trust Him! Run to Him. Easter morning was glorious, not only because Amy played the drums but because of all the joy 11 puppies brought to hundreds of kids. Easter is about giving. Jesus gave his life for us. I felt like I was doing what He wanted me to do this Easter and it felt great!

Barb, I’ve attached pictures of Shelby from Jasmine and Captain’s 2009 litter (the pink collar). In the picture where she is staring intently, there are two ducks in our neighbor’s decorative pond. It seems like in the second picture that she is thinking, “Please let me see them!” I can hardly believe that she is almost two years old. In some respects, it seems like we just got her and in others is seems like we’ve never known a day without her. She loves car rides and often goes to pick up the boys with me. She sits in the seat so proudly and excited to come along. Shelby especially loves the snow and playing with Matt (our younger son who picked her up with me) in the snow. He built a fort (really, a snow mound) in our front yard and Shelby loves to sit on top of it to observe the neighborhood. She actually prances on walks.

We asked for a dog that would play and settle quickly and be a great family dog. Barb, you picked out a fabulous dog for us. She does just that and seems to know when someone here needs a little extra attention. We love her dearly and are so thrilled to have such a wonderful and beautiful addition to our family. Your devotion to breeding excellent Goldens is so evident and we are so appreciative for all you do.

The third picture is from my husband’s cell phone. He put it on his Facebook page with the caption “We asked David to play with Shelby to tire her out. Guess who won?” We did ask him to play with her, but it was after two-a-day practices for football in August. He sat on the floor with her for a little bit and then was asleep on the floor. Shelby was protecting him. It’s such a sweet picture that I had to share it with you. Oh and the red cube in the picture is where we put about two-thirds of her food at each meal. She eats so fast that the cube slows her down. She loves playing with it to get the food. She has figured out how to push and pull so it doesn’t get stuck under the furniture. When she gets it stuck under the desk, she’ll sit by it. Then she’ll bark to get our attention. So sweet!

With warmest regards, Becky, Scott, David and Matt

We celebrated Sofia’s (Jasmine/Captain) 1st birthday yesterday. She got two bones and new soft toy which is a treat because she Likes to chew them up or play tug of war with them rather than just Hold them and lick them! Sofia is so sweet and beautiful and has been a true blessing for us. Everyone continues to say that she is the most beautiful Golden they Have ever seen. Thank you for breeding such a wonderful dog. You may be hearing from us Again to adopt a brother or sister for Sofia! Regards, Karin and Michael
