Thought that we would send you some pictures of Ruby”s first solo hunt. She really gets excited when the vests and the guns come out! Does she look excited in the field???!!! She looks very proud over her birds. It’s so fun to be out with your own dog! We have the potential to be a good team.

Merry Christmas,

Bob

CLIENT TESTIMONY: SPORT

Above is a photo of Sport during a recent hunt in South Dakota. She did a fantastic job. She flushed a lot of birds, retrieved a not of Roosters, and ran down cripples in heavy cover for up to 200 yards before retrieving them to hand. (not bad for a 17 month old pup!)

Sport never ranged more than thirty yards in front of me and would stop on a dime. (Actually one toot of the whistle) She also learned not to chase Jack rabbits after only 2 rabbits.

On Christmas Eve morning three hunters shot three Minnesota Roosters and Sport retrieved all three ring necks despite having two other dogs in the field (This was my Christmas Present!!)
Sport is also a great family dog and very obedient. Lily, our three and one-half year old daughter, feeds Sport every day and Sport obeys all of Lily’s commands.

Thanks again for breeding a wonderful line of Goldens. Let me know if any of your prospective clients need a reference for a GREAT HUNTING DOG. I’d be glad to fill them in on the details. Happy New Years!

THE BIG HUNT

Russ said that every little kid he has ever brought duck hunting gets bored and wants to go back home. That’s when he gives them the duck call, and the rest of the time they are happy to call in the ducks…here is Amy calling them in!

Tired after hunting!

Here is David relaxing after the big hunt!

DUCK HUNTING

Saturday morning was so beautiful, with the sun shining on the lake. I looked out as Russ, our two sons David and Daniel and two daughters Amy and Anna walked down the path all decked out in camo…destined to shoot some ducks! We all work hard in the dog business, and to watch them go off and have a break together, was rewarding. Russ has loved hunting and being in nature since I have known him. When we were younger he would take the kids in youth group hunting. Most lived in town and normally would not be able to experience it. Now that we have our own children, he enjoys taking them out and teaching them about life in the wild. Even Amy found some camo that sorta fit, and enjoyed the morning. It was a busy day with puppy visits, but I enjoyed meeting everyone and learning about the puppy you want to take home in two weeks. We take our job very seriously, and pray and ask God for wisdom and discernment as we chose the puppy that will live in your home for the next 10 to 14 years. I am confident you will be happy with the puppy we chose, and will fall in love with him or her before you leave the farm! The next few weeks will be busy, but I am enjoying every minute!

YOUTH DUCK HUNTING

Daniel took his girlfriends little brother out hunting on Saturday for youth hunting day. They had a wonderful time and Nathan shot his first duck!

SOME RECENT CLIENT COMMENTS

Following are reports from clients who hunt with their dogs:

We are so happy with our 15 month-old female Golden named Sport. She
has been an excellent hunter and has found 20 out of 20 chuckars in field training. When we knock them down, she retrieves them to ‘hand.’ We especially appreciate how you personally selected this particular puppy for us based on our family profile and hobbies (we have smaller children so needed a great family dog first, as well as a bird dog for my husband’s interest in hunting sports.) Thank you again and please let us know we’d be happy to recommend your puppies to anyone.

Lori and I just wanted to drop you a line to say that Nellie is wonderful and what ever you guys do there at Rolling Oaks keep it up. We have had Lori’s 10 month old Nephew at our house the last week and Nellie is amazing with him even at such a young age and no experience with small children at all. I also have to say that she was born to bird hunt, I have been playing with her on real pheasant wings and pigeon as well and she is so crazy for birds I can’t even explain. Anyway I had started gun training a few weeks ago with the cap gun, starter pistol, any other loud noises while she is eating, playing with bird wings etc.. Well I was very happy because she has never even given any of it a second thought, no cowering or any thing. So I got a bit bold for a almost 15 week old puppy but she went on her first Pheasant Hunt last weekend. I started off on the training field and got her really birdie on live pigeons with no gun shots. Then my neighbor and I who has a yellow lab took the two into the hunting fields. Well lets just say our jaws (along with the guide that was with us) jaws hut the ground. Once the experienced lab got her and us on the birds, it was awesome to see her natural instinct. She actually put up two birds on her own, and was so excited she did not even flinch at the sound of two 12 gauges going off. Just thought I would share my story and joy and thanks for a wonderful dog. Take care and thanks again Peter and Lori
